Bright Nature Trail - Tata

Walking along the path of the Fényes spring sources, which is a 1350 m long meadow trail, the hikers experience a unique sight of giant trees of the marshland. You can enjoy the view of the romantic landscape and feel the experience of breaking water from the height of the trail at the canopy level. You can visit the sight throughout the year, even during off season. The Fényes Trail is an ecotourism route with eighteen stations and an interactive presentation of the area's natural treasures. It is both an informative and entertaining tourist attraction that abounds in adventures: on your own, by rope and boat, or even as a beginner diver, you can admire the fascinating wildlife of karst resources. The study trail is complemented by exhibitions and occupations featuring local wildlife at the Visitor Center. The Tata Ecotourism Study Trail is the ideal destination for families and school groups as well as for tourists interested in active recreation.

Hosszú-völgy (Long Valley) Nature Trail

The magical world of the Long Valley, reminiscent of the Ice Age, is a unique place in Kisalföld (Little Hungarian Plain). Several protected plants are living here, and we can learn about the key role of this landscape in the European-scale bird migration, and why eagles and hawks, the kings of the air, appear in the migration. The 12 stations along the 4 km long study trail allow you to discover on foot the values and beauties of the landscape.

Kőpite (Rock Pie) Hiking Trails - Dunaalmás

Why is it called "Rock Pie?" The mountain is named after its characteristic pie-like shape. As a quarry was operating on its side for thousands of years, its pie form has become more and more distinctive, giving it its name centuries ago. Roman water shafts, former quarries, mammoth teeth, deer stands, enchanted ferns, some easy walks, and then some hike afterwards await the hikers. You can admire a stunning panorama from the top of the Kőpite and Les Mountain. The trail runs a total of 9.3 km. The striking feature of the nature trail system is the red Roman road leading from the Tata-Dunaalmás road to Kőpite. For this adventure you can find a leading notebook at the Tourinform office in Tata, or you can download the Duna-Ipoly mobile application.

Old Lake Adventure Park - Tata

Tha park is located at a distance of 65 km from Budapest, about 500 metres from the M1 motorway, in the beautiful area of Old Lake Golf Hotel & Club. The establishment is also available for visitors who do not wish to use the services provided by the hotel. With various obstacles built on ropes stretching among primeval trees and built columns, the adventure park offers sportily exciting entertainment to children and adults alike. For children under 140 centimetres in height there are two tracks, whereas bigger children and adults can use a trail built higher up among the trees.

Via Ferrata - Tatabánya

You do not need to be an experienced rock climber if you want to test your skills on Hungary’s iron roads under safe circumstances. Discover the vertical empire yourself! We recommend three routes of different levels of difficulty to courageous adventurers.

Climbing rocks in Gerecse - Tardos

The climbing rocks are to be found in one of the most beautiful parts of the Gerecse Mountains, in the direction of Gorba-tető (peak). Leave your car in the parking place by the edge of the forest next to the barrier, then walk 1.5 km along the road leading to the mine. At the stone man statue turn right and walk another 300 metres to reach the climbing wall. The number of the routes is 102, and the wall height is 8–24 metres. You can climb the wall any time at your own risk, as there is no security service.

Öreg-tó (Old Lake) Nature Trail – Tata

Of the still waters of Tata the best known is Öreg-tó (Old Lake). It ows its existence to the surrounding terrain and the sources springing forth here, because the waters running down from the nearby undulating countryside and those breaking out from the depth of the earth gathered and expanded to form a lake in this low-lying area. While walking along the shores we may ask ourselves whether lakes have changed in the course of the centuries and whether Kings Sigismund or Matthias might have perceived Tata’s Öreg-tó as we see it now, or whether it offered an entirely different sight in the 14–15th centuries. We can get the answer if we take a walk along the 13 stations of the marked route.

Réti-tó (Réti Lake) Nature Trail - Tata

This 2.6-km-long study trail shows the natural and cultural treasures of the largest one of the system of fish ponds created in the 1890’s by the Esterházy estate. Following the recently completed restoration work, this area once again forms an important part of the network of wetland habitats around Tata. While walking along the route, visitors can learn about the flora and fauna, as well as about Tata’s karst sources and events relating to history and the history of culture.

Által-ér Valley Nature Trail - Tata–Vértesszőlős–Tatabánya

This some 6.5-km-long bicycle path along Által-ér Valley connects valuable sites: Tata, known as ‘the town of waters’ or ‘the town of watermills’ or even ‘the town of wild geese’ with Vértesszőlős, world-famous for its Homo erectus fossil, and with the landscape-guarding Turul in Tatabánya, the largest bronze bird statue in the world. [The turul, an ancient bird of prey, was a totemic animal of the early Magyars.] On the way you can discover the unique flora and fauna of the marshland habitats along the stream. And you can do all this while riding your bike and stopping every now and then.

Hosszú-völgy (Long Valley) Nature Trail - Kocs

For a long time, Hosszú-völgy was hiding unknown and undiscovered in the far-flung ploughland. However, today we know that it is one of the places that preserve unique treasures at the edge of the lowland called Kisalföld. It is here that several protected plant species reach the western borderline of their range. The 12 stations built along the 4-km-long study trail provide an insight into this wonderworld.

Szent-kút (Holy Well) Nature Trail - Bajót–Péliföldszentkereszt

Péliföldszentkereszt and the area around Öreg-kő (Old Stone) has a special atmosphere in Gerecse Nature Park. It is not by chance that a pilgrimage route has passed by here for centuries, that the path of the Countrywide Blue Circle Tour was marked here, and that it can be regarded as the birthplace of the Hungarian Salesian Order of Don Bosco. The ten stations of the 2.6-km-long study trail show various parts of the natural and cultural heritage of Gerecse.

Monostor Floodplain Nature Trail - Komárom–Koppánymonostor

Especially magical is the floodplain of the Danube on St Paul’s Island at Monostor. It tells tales of the history of bygone times, special plants and animals, past floods, the past and present of floodplain cultivation, as well as of the necessity of the protection of our precious drinking water. There are 10 stations along the 7.5-km-long study trail.

Malom-völgyi (Mill Valley) Nature Trail - Tardos

Famous for the century-long quarrying and its red marble, Tardos is located in the heart of the Gerecse Landscape Protection Area. Tardos Basin is crowned by the highest peaks of the Gerecse range, namely Nagy-Gerecse (633 m), Öreg-Kovács (554 m) and Gorba-tető (505 m). The 1.8-km-long study trail provides an insight into the wildlife of the pond created in Malom-völgy, especially into the bustling life of amphibians.
