The Equestrian Citadel of Hungary and the Bakony Gate

KISBÉR

In the southern half of Komárom-Esztergom county, where the distant blue mountain ranges of the Vértes and Magas-Bakony gently blend into the landscape, where these hills merge with the rolling wheat fields of the Kisalföld, Kisbér is located at the western entrance of the Móri trench.

Due to its favorable geographical location, Kisbér has a rich historical past. The first settlers appeared between 1000 and 1200. In 1853, Emperor Joseph Ferenc founded the Kisbéri royal stud here, using the local horse breeding and related expertise, and the famous miracle mare, Kincsem, was born here. Even today, everyone from Kisbér remembers the stud farm, despite the fact that it no longer existed, but the town preserves the stud farm's memories.

Kisbér is not only a Járási Központ, but the center of a small region consisting of 18 settlements, which lies at the entrance to the Bakony and Vértes. That is why the city is also called the "Gate of Bakony". Main road 81 connecting Székesfehérvár with Győr, main road 13 connecting Komárom with Kisbér, Tatabánya-Pápa third-order public road intersect here, and driving along road 13 towards Komárom, after 18 km you reach the Budapest-Vienna M1 highway.
