Garam Valley

GARAM VALLEY

The Garam (Hron in Slovak, Gran in German) is a tributary of the Danube in Slovakia. 289 km long, catchment area 5465 km², average water flow 55.2 m³/sec.

It originates in the Low Tatras, on King's Hill (Kráľova hoľa) (1948 m) near Garamfő. It then flows in a longitudinal valley to the west to Besztercebánya, and from there to the south. At Léva, it breaks through the volcanic mountains and reaches the lowlands. Finally, it flows into the Danube next to Párkány, opposite Esztergom.
